Flowing Connections was the event program of One Body of Water in cooperation with the library of the Technical University Vienna during Vienna Design Week September 20-29 2024.
The events took place at DAVIS, the Data Visualisation Space of TU Vienna. A digital exhibition of FREE GENIE on an interactive touch wall framed the week's analogue event program.
The interdisciplinary discussion “Water Qualities and Water Realities” touched on urban water supply and groundwater in times of heat and flooding - with water experts Christina Formanek (Federal Environment Agency), Ernst Überreiter (Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Regions and Water Management), Norbert Kreuzinger (Institute for Water Quality and Resource Management, TU Vienna) and Franz Weyrer (Viena Waterworks, MA31).
The artists' collective Narratives of Water (MEX/ZWE) with Juan Vértiz and Paulina Flores brought a change of perspective with their intervention on the clash between the water realities in Mexico City and Vienna and raised questions like: How do we communicate water realities? How do we deal with privilege?
The game workshop and the presentation of the analog knowledge and discussion game SHARING WATER attracted curious and committed players, and brought insights on how to proceed with this ongoing project.
